Sligo Development Series: New Tiered Competition Announced!

Sligo County Darts is thrilled to announce the launch of the Sligo Development Series (SDS). This new initiative is designed to provide competitive opportunities for players of all levels, with a fair, tiered structure and a significant prize fund.

Eligibility: Series participation is open to any player eligible to play for Sligo County Darts (any person playing/living in Sligo or currently playing for Sligo County Darts).

Event Schedule & Format

The series will consist of 20 events held throughout the season. To ensure maximum accessibility, events will take place on both weekdays and weekends:

• Thursday Events: 8:00 PM Start
• Sunday Events: 3:00 PM Start

Each individual event will be either a knockout or round robin format. This will be determined on the day based on the number of entrants, boards available at the location, and time constraints (considering the 8:00 PM vs 3:00 PM starts).

General Rule: A maximum of 6 or 7 players per board will be allowed for a round robin format; otherwise, the event will proceed as a knockout tournament.

Each player will be assessed and allocated into a specific tier by the Sligo Darts Committee to ensure balanced and fair competition across the board. Note: Players can be allocated to a tier at any time before, during, or after the 20 events, which will determine their placement for the knockout finals day.

Registration & Entry

Entering couldn't be easier. Simply turn up at the host venue on the day of the event!

• Entry Fee: €10 cash per event (100% goes directly to the prize fund).
• Registration: Players can enter at the venue on the day. Registration ends strictly 15 minutes before the stipulated start time (7:45 PM for Thursdays, 2:45 PM for Sundays).

The series will be hosted across several fantastic venues throughout the county, providing a great spread of locations for all participants:

1. The Rendezvous Bar, Sligo Town
2. The Riverside Hotel, Sligo Town
3. Coolera House, Ransboro
4. The May Queen, Tubbercurry
5. Donegans Bar, Gurteen

New Scoring System: kisdarts.ie

We are excited to announce that kisdarts.ie will be our new official tournament software and scoring system. This platform provides real-time updates and easy access for both players and spectators.

Leaderboard Points System

Players will earn points at every event to climb the series leaderboard. The points structure is designed to reward both participation and performance:

Road to Finals Day

To qualify for the prestigious Finals Day, players must participate in at least 7 out of the 20 events. After the 20 events are completed, the leaderboard will be split into 3 Tiers for the knockout finals.

Each of the three tiers will compete for a projected €3,000 prize fund, bringing the total projected finals prize pool to €9,000!

Prize Fund Generation

The substantial prize fund for the Sligo Development Series is made possible through a collaborative effort. We want to extend a massive thank you to our participating venues who generously sponsor each event. Their support, combined with 100% of all entry fees going directly into the prize pool and additional top-ups from Sligo County Darts, ensures a rewarding experience for all our players.

Series Performance Bonuses

In addition to the finals prize money, we are offering performance bonus prizes of €150 each for the following categories across the entire series:

• Highest Checkout
• Highest Match Average
• Highest Series Average (calculated from your best 7 events)
